What are the naturopathic principles
that guide my work with you?
Restoring Health by addressing the underlying root causes.
As practitioners of naturopathic principles we do not treat symptoms.
This is like taking a painkiller and thinking it has solved the problem. It has suppressed the symptoms whilst leaving the underlying cause unchanged.
One condition can have many causes, and one cause many conditions.
Food as Medicine
Food contains potent chemicals which influence biochemical pathways in our bodies.
Knowing where imbalances lie in the body helps the functional medicine practioner target those pathways.
Naturopathic principles state that the body is designed to rebalance itself into a state of homeostasis. However, obstacles to healing need to be identified and removed, whether these be nutrient insufficiencies, stress, sleep, environmental pollutants, infections or food intolerances.
Patient-centred, not disease centered.
Each individual has their own unique genetic code and biochemical differences which means there is no such thing as a one size fits all approach.
As such a naturopthic approach is also about treating the whole person. This takes into account everything about you including your stress levels, exercise, sleep and environmental challenges.
Health Challenges that a functional medicine approach can get to the heart of:
- Digestive complaints
- Anxiety, depression
- Type 2 Diabetes
- Fatigue
- Inflammatory conditions: eg IBD
- Healthy Ageing
- Brain fog, headaches
- Hormones
- Autoimmunity
- Allergies, asthma, eczema
- Long Covid
- Cardiovascular health and cholesterol
- Bone health
- Weight management
- Sports Performance
- Cancer Prevention
- ME and chronic fatigue
- Food allergies & intolerances
- Thyroid and adrenal health
- Sleep
Please note:
If you have been diagnosed or suspect you may have one of the medical conditions stated above, you should consult your GP for advice, diagnosis and treatment and always inform your health professional before starting any alternative or additional therapies, treatments or making any major changes in your diet or exercise programme.
